It’s almost 2017, the end of the year has come around so quickly! Which means, for many of us, that it’s time to think about our New Years Resolutions.
Many people have the usual resolutions – giving up smoking, going to the gym, being healthier, spending less money etc etc. But they are so boring and hard (no offence to anyone who’s chosen one of these!), why not have a fun resolution?
Which brings me to my quote of the day – ‘once a year go some place you’ve never been before’. This is a resolution I definitely use again and again. You never know where it will take you and you know you’ll succeed.
This year is the first year for as long as I can remember that I haven’t been to a new country [insert sad face]. But it was for a good reason! I had a baby at the end of last year, so this year has been about spending time with family. That’s not to say my baby hasn’t traveled yet, on the contrary, she’s about to take her 5th trip to Spain! Both mine and my husbands parents live there so it’s a good excuse to go away.
Alas, I feel I have gone of topic. What was I saying? Oh yes, so this year I haven’t been to a new country. But despite that I have still been somewhere new. Seeing a new place in your own country is still travelling and if you have difficulties or fears of flying or going somewhere where you don’t speak the language, staying in your home country is perfect!
This year my new place was the New Forest, Hampshire, England. I had heard about it and it sounded beautiful so we decided to go for our wedding anniversary (baby and all!). Seeing a new part of the UK and getting away from our usual old hangouts was great and what you need once in a while, even if just for a couple of nights.
I haven’t decided where my new place will be next year, but I will definitely be going somewhere! If I’m feeling adventurous I may spend a weekend abroad, showing my baby a new country, if not I’ll find another lovely place in the UK. Either way I’m going to love it!
Auf Wiedersehen for now,
